Martin Methodist College: Matthew Thorne returns for his fourth and final season in the net for the RedHawks. 2005: Last season, Thorne became the only RedHawk to start in all 17 of the RedHawks' games while picking up nine victories and three shutouts and 61 saves. He posted a 1.109 goals against average in 1461 minutes played on his way to being named a member of the All-TranSouth Athletic Conference Team. 2004: Thorne started and appeared in 16 matches last season for the RedHawks, recording a 13-1-1 record (the fifth best record in NAIA) and 1335 minutes in the net. He posted seven shutouts, collecting 57 saves and only allowing 11 goals. At the conclusion of the season he was named to the All-TranSouth Conference Second Team, and selected as the Best Defensive Player of the Year.
High School: Graduated from St. Joseph's Secondary School in Rush, Ireland in 2001, where he played for Jerry Cassin and Paul Lumsdan. In 2000 he was named the Player of the Year, followed by being named Best Sports Personality in 2001.
