George Ogilvie
Head Coach
Baseball

George Ogilvie enters his fourth season in a return to Martin Methodist College after being out of the game at the Collegiate Level since 1991.

A native of Lewisburg, Tenn., he played all sports available in high school before attending Motlow State Community College in 1973, being named All-State for baseball in 1975. From Motlow, Ogilvie continued his education and playing career at the University of Tennessee at Martin, earning his degree in 1978.  He played only one season at UT-Martin due to injuries, but stayed on as an assistant coach under Coach Vernon Praether for one year before pursuing a graduate degree from Austin Peay State University. At Austin Peay, he joined Coach Joe Ellenburg's staff as an assistant for the Govs Baseball Team during the 1980 Season.

After receiving his degree, he accepted a position at Martin College as the head coach of baseball and women's basketball.  His women's basketball team finished third in the National Junior College Athletic Association final basketball poll in 1981-82. He stayed at Martin for four years leading the baseball team to the Regional Tournament for two of the four years. Also during his time with the Martin Indians, he was named the Western Division Coach of the Year in 1981 and 1984.

Ogilvie left Martin to take over the Roane State Community College baseball program in 1985. Over the course of seven seasons, he lead the Raiders to Tennessee State Championships in both 1986 and 1987 and was named the Eastern Division Coach of the year five times and Tennessee Junior College Athletic Association Coach of the year three times.

His success at Roane earned him the invitation to be the head coach of the South Baseball Team at the 1990 US Olympic Festival in Minneapolis, Minn. Two of his Roane players, Mike Difelice and Bubba Trammell, went on to play Major League Baseball, playing a combined 17 seasons in The Show.

Ogilvie left Roane and coaching in 1991 to help start a family business in Mt. Juliet, Tenn., until accepting the job at Martin Methodist for his return to the collegiate ranks in December of 2003. He and his wife Donna reside in Mt. Juliet and have two children, Rachel 20 and Adam 18.
