John A Logan College: Mitchell was a 2-year starter at John A. Logan College while playing the guard position, as well as the point position. 

Spring Hill High School: Helped guide team to the Regional Tournament for the first time in 11 years while being named MVP. She garnered All-Conference (4 years), led the team in assists (2 years), and scored over 1000 points in her career. Her senior season, she averaged 13 points, 6 steals, and 3 rebounds per game while also lettering in track, softball, and volleyball. She also lettered in volleyball, softball, and track while in high school.
