RedHawks Drop Energy Packed Game
KANSAS CITY, Mo.
 (3/19) –The RedHawks lost their first round game at the 71st Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship 85-89 to Wayland Baptist University. It was an energy packed game that came down to the last seconds. The game featured 10 ties and 11 lead changes.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. –
(official bracket) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially released the game times and pairings for the 71st Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship. Coined college basketball’s toughest tournament, Municipal Auditorium hosts the March 19-25 event in downtown Kansas City, Mo. (more)

RedHawks Get Bid to National Tourney
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (3/12)
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially released the field of 32 teams for the 71st Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship, which will be held March 19-25 in Kansas City, Mo. Coined college basketball’s toughest tournament, Municipal Auditorium hosts 32 teams playing in 31 games over a seven-day span.

Trojans Upset RedHawks in Semi-Finals
Pulaski, Tenn. (3/8) – The No. 2 seeded Martin Methodist College RedHawks hosted the No. 3 seeded Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans in a TranSouth Confernnce Tournament Semi-Final game tonight at the CLC. The RedHawks were defeated 75-87. (more)

RedHawks Advance to TSAC Semi-Finals
Pulaski, Tenn. (3/6) – The second seeded RedHawks hosted the sixth seeded Freed-Hardeman Lions in a TranSouth Conference Tournament quarter final game tonight at the Curry Christian Life Center. The RedHawks defeated the Lions 97-84. (more)

Pelton Selected TSAC Newcomer of the Year
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (3/5) - The TranSouth Athletic Conference released the 2007-2008 men’s basketball all-conference team and postseason awards. Kendaris Pelton was selected TranSouth Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year. (more)

Eagles Swoop Game from RedHawks
Pulaski, Tenn. (2/28) – No. 11 Martin Methodist hosted No. 3 Lambuth University tonight in the RedHawks last regular season game. It was also senior night in which four seniors, Eric Howard, Carlton Peete, Kendaris Pelton, Kevin Green were honored. (more)

RedHawks Win Ten Straight
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (2/22) Martin Methodist (24-4, 15-3) broke into the NAIA’s top ten this week for the first time since the 2002-2003 season. They also won their 10th straight TranSouth Conference game last night against NAIA No. 17 Trevecca (19-7, 11-5) 80-70. (more)

Basketball: RedHawks Split with the Bulldogs
Pulaski, Tenn. (2/18) – The RedHawks hosted Union University this past weekend in a TranSouth doubleheader. The Women’s team fell short of the No. 1 Bulldogs 69-93. While the Men’s team was the winner in the night cap beating the Bulldogs 90-75 for their eight straight win. (more)

RedHawks Win Six in a Row
Pulaski, Tenn. (2/11) - The Martin Methodist College Men's Basketball team won their sixth game in a row tonight. The RedHawks defeated Freed-Hardeman 82-68.  The win keeps the RedHawks in second place in the TranSouth just one game back from Lambuth University. The RedHawks move to 21-4 overall and have a 12-3 record in the TranSouth.

Pulaski, Tenn. (2/2) – It was Homecoming 2008 today on the campus of Martin Methodist College. Alumni, family and friends of MMC joined in the Curry Christian Life Center for today’s annual homecoming festivities and to enjoy some TranSouth Conference basketball action. (more)

Pulaski, Tenn. (1/24) – In front of a pack gym and the Martin Methodist College’s student section “The Red Zone” standing the whole game, the No. 25 RedHawks Men’s Basketball Team got back to their winning ways with a big TranSouth Conference win over No. 16 Trevecca Nazarene 85-62. (more)

Crichton Snaps MMC’s Win Streak
Pulaski, Tenn. (1/18) – The RedHawks lost a hard fought battle last night to the Comets from Crichton College 76-84. The loss snaps a 10 game winning streak for the RedHawks and puts them in a three-way tie for second place in the TranSouth with just one loss (5-1) in conference play. Trevecca and Cumberland are the other teams with just one loss. (more)

RedHawks Stay Hot
Pulaski, Tenn. (1/11) – The 16th ranked RedHawks stay on a hot streak knocking off TranSouth Conference opponent Bethel College 92-73 last night in the CLC. The RedHawks have won their last eight in a row, are 3-0 starting out conference play and are 12-1 overall. (more)

Men's and Women's Basketball 2-0 in TSAC Play
(1/8) - The Martin Methodist College Men's and Women's Basketball Teams are off to a 2-0 start in the TranSouth Athletic Conference.  The teams have defeated Lyon College and Mid-Continent University.  The RedHawks will be at home this Thursday, January 10th to host their first conference games against Bethel College from McKenzie, Tenn.  The women tip off at 6:00 in the CLC followed by the men at 8:00.


RedHawks Beat Eagles
Pulaski, Tenn. (12/18) – The No. 18 ranked Martin Methodist College Men’s Basketball team finished out their non-conference schedule this past weekend with a win over Faulkner University. That is the second time the RedHawks have beaten the Eagles this season. The RedHawks going into the holiday break 9-1. (more)

RedHawks Sweep Bearcats
Pulaski, Tenn. (12/1) – In the RedHawks last two outings they played the Bearcats from Brescia University (Owensboro, Ky.). The RedHawks won in Kentucky last Tuesday November 20th 93-83 and today in front of their home crowd they won 75-64. (more)

RedHawks Sign Point Guard Tripp Howell
RedHawk Basketball coach Andy Sharpe has announced the signing of 5'10" point guard Tripp Howell.  Howell, a three-sport athlete at Dalton High School in Dalton, GA, will join the RedHawks for the upcoming '07-'08 season.

RedHawk’s Announce New Head Coach for Men’s Basketball
Martin Methodist College announces the hiring of Andy Sharpe as the new head men’s basketball coach for the RedHawk’s program. Andy is a graduate of Reinhardt College and former men’s basketball player for the Eagles. For the last two years Coach Sharpe has served as the head coach for Emmanuel College (Franklin Springs, GA) men’s basketball team. (more)
RedHawks Coach Ficca Accepts New Position in Cheyenne, Wyoming
(5/15) Pulaski, TN - Coach Jason Ficca accepts a new position as the Athletic Director and Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Coach Ficca has been the head coach at Martin Methodist College for the past two seasons; he also served as an assistant coach for two years. He led the RedHawks to a 20-12 record this past season. MMC Mourns Passing of Chauncey Shelton
(5/11)  It is with great sadness that we confirm the death of MMC senior Chauncey Shelton, who died from wounds following a shooting Thursday night in Nashville. According to a television news report this morning, Chauncey was not involved in the altercation that led to gunfire at J.C. Napier Homes, but, instead, had stepped into to help stop the incident. OLATHE, Kan. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has named its 2006-07 Division I Men’s Basketball All-America teams, 30 named to three All-America teams, 49 to honorable mention list. (more)

TSAC Announces 06-07 All Conference Awards, MMC's Shelton Named First Team, Howard and Newnham Second Team
NASHVILLE
, Tenn. –The TranSouth Athletic Conference released the 2006-2007 men’s basketball all-conference team and postseason awards today. Lambuth University’s Ivan Jenkins took two of the major awards as he was selected as the Player of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year. Mid-Continent’s Brian Hewitt was named the Freshman of the Year and Martin Methodist head coach Jason Ficca was selected the Coach of the Year. (more)

RedHawks Fall Short Against Union
Pulaski, Tenn.(2/24) - The RedHawks of Martin Methodist College had Senior Night Saturday February 24th and failed to get the win over the tough Union University squad, 83-75. The game was hard fought throughout, but in the end the Bulldogs pulled away. (more)

RedHawks Get Huge Upset Over No. 6 Lambuth University
Pulaski, Tenn. (2/12) – The Martin Methodist RedHawks took the floor against No. 6 Lambuth University on February 12th at the Curry Christian Life Center. The RedHawks received a huge victory not only physically, but mentally as well, 93-83. (more)

Shelton Named TSAC Player of the Week

NASHVILLE
, Tenn. - The TranSouth Athletic Conference has selected Chauncey Shelton of Martin Methodist College as this week's men's basketball player of the week for the week ending February 4, 2007. Shelton averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game on the week. (more)

RedHawks beat #19 Trevecca Nazarene Trojans

NASHVILLE
, Tenn. (2/1)
 –The RedHawk Men’s Basketball team beat NAIA No. 19 Trevecca Nazarene University Thursday night in Nashville 95-79. The Trojans took an early 11-6 lead. But, the RedHawks responded, with a 10-0 run to take a 16-11 lead. more


The RedHawks Go Into Overtime Against Bethel College

PULASKI, Tenn. (1/25)– The RedHawks hosted Bethel College January 25th at the Curry Christian Life Center.  Both teams played extremely well on the night, but it seemed that Bethel finally got the edge in Overtime and won the game 115-111 over the RedHawks.  more


The RedHawks Up-Root Conference Foe Cumberland University

 

PULASKI, Tenn. (1/20)– The RedHawks took to the floor in TranSouth Conference play on January 20th where they faced the Cumberland University Bulldogs.  The RedHawks were dominant all game long and really took it to a tough Cumberland University squad with the final score 86-64.  more


RedHawks Take The Win Against Freed-Hardeman University

PULASKI, Tenn. – The Martin Methodist College RedHawks took the floor on January 15th against Freed-Hardeman University and pocketed another valuable Transouth Conference win, 87-74.  more

PULASKI, Tenn. (1/6)- The Martin Methodist College RedHawks took the court again on Jan. 6th and dominated a tough Mid-Continent University basketball team 101-81 at the Curry Christian Life Center.  There was never any question that the RedHawks came to play and were there to win from the start.  more

(12/18) – Martin Methodist College hit a pair of historical land marks in the Curry Christian Life Center Monday night, as they posted their first-ever victory over a Top 5 opponent on their home floor and watched as four-year senior Kirk "Bam-Bam" Newnham passed the 1,000 point mark for his career, defeating No. 4 Faulkner University 83-72. more

LEBANON, Tenn. (12/16) – Jacob McKissack lit up the Dallas Floyd Center Saturday afternoon with a 10-of-12 performance from 3-point range to lead Martin Methodist College to a 95-77 victory over Tennessee Temple College in the Cumberland University Nationwide Classic. more

LEBANON, Tenn. (12/15) – Six RedHawks scored in double figures to help Martin Methodist College snag a 74-70 upset over No. 21 McKendree College in a back-and-forth, neutral court battle in the Cumberland University Classic Friday night. more


MMC Falls to Sun Belt Leader MTSU
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (12/9) – Chauncey Shelton led all scorers with 23 points and eight rebounds, but it was not enough, as Martin Methodist College fell to Middle Tennessee State University 93-57 in a mid-season exhibition at the Murphy Center Saturday. more
