Martin Methodist College: Kirk Newnham returns for his fourth and final season in a RedHawks' uniform after being redshirted for the 2002-03 season. He is the only current player to play his entire career at MMC, as he looks to score his 1,000th career point this season.
Junior Year: Newnham averaged 10. 5 points and 7.8 rebounds for MMC as a junior, while leading the team with 22 blocks. He scored a personal season-high 22 points in 35 minutes against Lambuth University. He posted nine double-doubles on the season. He scored in double-figures 17 times, including three 20-point games.
Sophomore Year: Although his sophomore season was cut short after just 19 games in 2004-05 due to being injured in an automobile accident, Newnham still posted the highest average of points per game on the team with 13.5. His 6.9 rebounds a game was also a high, along with his 53 percent shooting from the field and six blocks. His career high performance came on November 28, 2004 when he was 11-of-19 from the floor and posted his first double-double on the year with 28 points and 10 rebounds. He posted two double-doubles on the season and reached double-figures in scoring 15 times, breaking 20 points four times.
Freshman Year: Newnham came to MMC as a freshman in 2003-04 and was a member of the MMC team that went 22-14 and won the school's first-ever TranSouth Athletic Conference Championship in men's basketball, as they advanced to their fourth-consecutive NAIA National Tournament. Newnham appeared in all 36 games, starting in eight, as he averaged 8.4 points and 5.2 rebounds a game. His season-high perfromance came on March 16, 2004 against Cumberland University, when he scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Southern District School: Before coming to MMC, Newnham played for the Southern District Spartans in Brisbane Australia for Coach Paul Mellett. While there, he averaged 14 points and nine rebounds in 2002-02, shooting 56 percent from the floor. He was also selected as a member of the 2002 All-Southern Cross Division Team
