Martin Methodist College: Michael returns for his second and final season for MMC to serve as the RedHawks' Co-Captain in 2006. Last season, he hit .297 with five homeruns and 19 RBI, and held a 1-2 record on the mound as a reliever. In 2004 as a sohomore, he hit .336 and was 4-2 from the mound. He has been a fixture on the MMC Dean's List.
Northwest Shoals Community College: Before coming to MMC, Michael played at Northwest Shoals in Alabama, where he hit .300 with three homeruns and pitched with an ERA of 3.20 in 2003 as a sophomore.
Muscle Shoals High School: A 2001 graduate of Muscle Shoals, Boatwright played for Coach Brian Lindsey. While there, he was selected All-Area his junior and senior season, All-State his senior season. During those two years, he hit a combined .424 with 19 homeruns, and carried a perfect 9-0 record from the mound with a 1.20 ERA.
Personal: Born August 15, 1983 in Florence, Ala... He is the son of Scott and Charlene Boatwright... Majoring in secondary education (biology)... His hobbies include working out, scholastics, and sports.
Coach Ogilvie's Comments: "Michael will be a key to the success of the RedHawks in 2006. He will be used on the mound as either a starter or a reliever. At this point he will get some starts in the pre-conference season as he has had an outstanding fall, both offensively and defensively while doing his student teaching at the same time and missing several hours of practice time. A team leader by example. He stays in the weight room. Will DH when not being used as a starting pitcher. Outstanding student."
