PULASKI, Tenn. - MMC women's soccer will again head to Decatur, Alabama on November 28th to begin their trek at the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship as the advanced to the second round with a 4-0 win over unseeded St. Ambrose University. Senior Nicole O'Donnell scored two in the affair, including the game winner, while freshman Linnea Sahlin netted two of her own.
The Queen Bees put pressure on MMC early, firing off the first shot of the game in the second minute, but the RedHawks quickly settled in and O'Donnell scored the eventual game-winner off the foot of Heather Holley in the 14th minute.
O'Donnell added some cushion with a second goal in the 36th minute, this time a header off of a Sahlin set piece.
Coming out of the half with a 2-0 lead, Sahlin found the net for her first score just six minutes into the second period, assisted by Anna Beccera. Sahlin then capped the scoring as the SAU keeper came out and left an open net easily found by the foot of MMC's freshman, an unassisted goal.
Hanit Schwarz logged all 90 minutes in goal, making 10 saves as the Queen Bees attempted seven shots in a late effort in the final 10 minutes. Defender Shir Levo held down the defense at center back, deflecting several shots of her own in the final minutes of the contest.
The RedHawks advance to the second round, and will face off with 13th-seeded Baker (Kan.). The contest will serve as a rematch of last year's second round affair in which Baker upset MMC out of the tournament.
